Hydraulic lifter / tappet.
Hydraulic lifter, also known as a hydraulic tappet, used in the valvetrain of certain Porsche engines. Its role is to maintain correct clearance in the valve train automatically, so the valve opens and closes properly with the camshaft actuation and without manual lash adjustment.
